A while ago I started following The blog of Impossible Things and came across a challenge he’d recently completed. The One Hundred Press-up Challenge. It wasn’t until about two months that I decided that I’d try and tick that one off. Unfortunately, I hate having to schedule my exercise patterns so I tried the suggested build up workouts but couldn’t get into a good regime. Instead, maybe once or twice a week I’d go and do a push up pyramid with my other stuff. A week ago I had my second attempt at the feat and despite with the not so consistent training, I was able to pull it off!
With a group of other people doing it as part of the Impossible League, I knew I had to do it one more time and record it. Earlier today after a long run through the park with my barefoot shoes, I decided I might as well give it a shot. I started well but my pace slowed down a lot after the 50 mark, and after 70 I was doing little sets of between 2 and 4. My form wasn’t perfect by all means, and seeing myself in the video has made me aware that I need to work on my form a little. My hands were getting quite sweaty on the cold floor, and I almost slipped at 91, but managed to keep going to 100. I want to work my way to the 150 mark at some point so that will be the next step.
By the way for your information, I suffer from video awkwardness. Its my first time really on video and I hate watching myself and hearing myself, though I hope to start doing a few more video blogs as some things are best shown on video.

Congrats! It’s on my list of things to do in 2012 to do ONE pull up but I’ve never been able to do it and have horrible upper body strength so it’s a big deal for me. I actually like video better than photos. Video is “more real” where photos can catch you in such awkward moments!

Thanks Jess! It’s always great to set yourself a fitness goal! Pull ups are pretty difficult and aren’t my strong point either. I’m aiming for 50 I think… one of these days…
I feel incredibly awkward on video but I suppose the more I go on it, the more comfortable I’ll be on it. I hate hearing myself!
